| The Burbank Police Officers' Foundation Mounted Unit was established to facilitate donations received from businesses and citizens of Burbank and the surrounding communities. The Burbank Police Department 's Mounted Unit, began in 1995 on an experimental basis, it was primarily utilized for ceremonial events. Since the inception, the Mounted Unit has become a valuable tool in the community. |
The Mounted Unit members volunteer their time, horses, and equipment to provide service to our community schools. They also spend countless hours volunteering for many other community events.
One of the missions of the Mounted Unit is to teach children (of all ages) the potential dangers when encountering strangers. The Mounted Unit also promotes an anti-drug message and explains the importance of traffic safety. They teach the students to use the 911 system and illustrate the Peace Builders Pledge. |

| The members of the Mounted Unit are selected from volunteers from the ranks of the Burbank Police Department. Officers must be willing to participate at their own expense and to hold themselves to the Units high discipline and training standards. Each officer assigned to the Unit must provide his or her own uniforms, supplies, and horse. Members and their horses must complete extensive training and must demonstrate proficiency prior to tactical deployment. |

The Mounted Unit is not a funded program and depends solely on our community support.
To make the Foundation a visible and integral part of our community, our members are committed to contributing their time and resources to make Burbank a better place in which to live and work. |
